Broken Ruler?

Yes, that's right, this is Broken Ruler Games. Think of this as our "About" page explaining who we are and what we do.

Broken Ruler Games started in 2012 and is an online publisher of roleplaying games, including the newly released Killshot Roleplaying Game and producer for the Optional System. It's run by a guy called The Warden (trust me, you don't want to know his real name) and this is just the beginning of what's in store. Of course, everyone says that, don't they? The onus is on us to live up to that threat.

With all the activity going on at the moment, there will be more to follow on this page. Until then, you can follow Broken Ruler through all the popular social media.

Why "Broken Ruler Games?"

There are two meanings behind the name. The first is our slogan: Breaking All The Rules. One of the primary goals of everything published at the Ruler is to take the standard conventions and throw them out the window to create a new twist on a classic style of gaming. It's how the Optional System was built and you can find out more by clicking on this link

The second is a little more personal. Back in late 2010, I (The Warden) was involved in a serious car accident which lead to the creation of Broken Ruler Games. The idea of having the word "broken" and a logo to match was too much to pass up.

Partners in Crime

You can't make it anywhere without the support of friends, family, and strangers who become allies on the road to success. Suffice it to say, while there are many to thank for their assistance and encouragement during the development of BRG, these are websites, people, and publishers in particular who have been a terrific asset to our work. The very least we can do is provide a link and strongly encourage each of you to check them out. (Actually, the very least we can do is absolutely nothing, so let's take it one step further, shall we?)

Roleplayers Chronicle: I've been working with this site since the later half of 2011 as the Canadian Correspondent and contributor to the weekly column, Under the Hood. Perhaps the most comprehensive independent RPG publishing news site available today, Roleplayers Chronicle has been a tremendous asset in promoting Killshot and BRG in general. Along with daily news updates, announcements, articles, and reviews, RPC is a growing site for anything involving every little guy out there trying to make their game available.

G*M*S Magazine: Advertising is crucial in this business, right after excellent game development and the ability to brew an incredible cup of coffee. This RPG news site was very kind to offer free web banners for Killshot when it first premiered and has lead to a HUGE increase in traffic for our own site. Aside from news updates, they also host reviews and assorted articles on tabletop games of all kinds, G*M*S Magazine is highly recommended.

RPG Orbit: The last tab at the top of the page is a link to the BRG Store and that accomplishment is thanks to RPG Orbit, whose servers, programming, and assistance made it all possible. Providing online retail options for other publishers such as Pantheon Press and Stargazer Games, as well as providing news and updates on other independent RPG releases, I would highly recommend checking them out (particularly if you're looking to set up your own online store).
